Thanksgiving is almost here, which means there are two situations you need to prepare for: Β How to successfully avoid those awkward conversations about your love life, and figuring out what to wear.
Even though you don’t have concrete plans on how you will be celebrating the holidays, you want to make sure that your outfit is cute enough to impress your family and comfortable enough to go for seconds. For the past three consecutive Thanksgivings, I’ve fallen into the habit of wearing the same exact outfit in rotating colors: Sweater, leggings, boots, repeat. It didn’t matter what my plans were.
During my last Thanksgiving break, I watched “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”. I couldn’t get over how flawless all of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore’s outfits were. Ironically, their fall style inspired me to break out of my comfort zone and spice up my holiday look.
Here’s how you can add a little more Gilmore into your closet and copy these cozy, trendy, and inexpensive Thanksgiving outfits. The best part is that they are perfect for every Thanksgiving occasion!
1. If you’re mentally preparing yourself for a food coma…
Give yourself some breathing room with these loose, 90s style overalls. I love that Lorelai wears them with a simple striped top. Incorporate warm, fall colors into your outfit with an olive striped henley.

Women’s Chaps Striped Henley Top, $19.60

Distressed Denim Overalls, $24.43
2. If you’re watching the big game…

Lorelai has the right idea. Wear something that you won’t mind getting salsa all over when you’re shouting at your TV screen. Rep your team’s colors with your flannel,

Short Flannel Shirt, $17.99

Skinny fit High Trashed Jeans, $29.99
3. If you’re having a quiet, romantic dinner for two…

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life | Netflix
Rory’s infamous, $158 shirtdress from Anthropologie may have run out of luck, but you’re guaranteed to have a perfect night in or out with this inexpensive alternative. Keep warm with a pair of thick black tights and ankle boots.
4. If you’re hosting friendsgiving or eating out with your squad…

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life | Netflix
This was my favorite look of the entire series. I love the sharp contrast between the black and white lace. Although the dresses below aren’t an exact match with the one Rory wore, they’re made from similar material and are just as sexy! You can dress this look up or down depending on your venue.

Mockneck Lace Dress, $64.97
5. If you’re spending a majority of your time outside…

Bundle up with this tan wool coat.Β Rory’s Burberry coat actually costs close to $2,000, which makes this coat a total steal!
6. If you’re dining out…

Go classic with a flirty skater dress. Lorelai’s contrast collar is a fresh take on the typical peter pan trend and is perfect for any season.
7. If you’re celebrating alone…

Treat yourself! Put on that one outfit that you feel most confident in and celebrate your health, successes and overall year.

November 22, 2017 at 10:30 amAhh, I love the Gilmore Girls and I love the fashion that you have chosen especially as it’s the type that does not seem to go out of fashion. Great Post!

November 22, 2017 at 11:03 amI love that you’ve thought of all the ways of celebrating… even alone! I haven’t worn denim overalls for a very long time and never realised that it could be a perfect choice when planning a food coma! It may be a bit too casual for celebrations, but I’d consider it for other dinners! A collar on a dress is a great addition to make it look very chic, but I wonder if it’s comfortable.

November 23, 2017 at 11:52 amHow did you know I’m standing in front of my closet wondering what the heck I’m going to wear for Thanksgiving in a couple of hours?! I’m more of a casual look girl and am leaning towards something plaid (although mine is blue) and also some high waisted jeans. Who knew they would ever come back into fashion? I have to admit though, that I’d love an excuse to wear one of the pretty dresses!

November 24, 2017 at 10:56 amGreat post to show the best outfit. My sister would definitely love this post and all the outfits. She is quite confused with the dresses to choose this Christmas, so it may help her to choose the best one.
However, in my perspective, Chi Chi London outfit is great.
