Set new beauty goals for 2020 by adding extra glam makeup to your everyday beauty routine. If you’re like me, your makeup look is inspired by one of two situations: You only have five minutes to get ready before your guests come in or you have to catch the next uber.
Your makeup bag is filled with so many options that you have no idea how to put something together that will look sexy without giving off that “trying too hard” vibe.
The new year is a great excuse to try a new glam makeup look and catch everyone’s attention. Steal the show at your next party or girls night with this five simple steps.
Step 1: Apply primer to your face.
The first rule for rocking glam makeup is to wear primer, always. Primer is the only thing that will guarantee that your makeup stays put all night long, no matter how hard or late you party. Applying primer will give your party makeup look a much smoother feel and appearance. This will also make sure that your metallic makeup pops.
When I’m feeling experimental and am not in a hurry, I use my own DIY primer (a mix of aloe vera gel and my favorite moisturizer) under my makeup.
Step 2: Blend your foundation.
After smoothing out your primer, use a makeup blender to put on a light layer of foundation. Normally, I forgo applying foundation if my primer is already tinted (I’ve probably mentioned how obsessed I am with First Aid Beauty’s Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer over 100 times).
Step 3: Map out which parts of your face you want to highlight for a well blended glam makeup look.
Any time I wear metallic makeup, I love highlighting my eyes and cheeks. That way, my makeup will definitely stand out without being too overwhelming. Before you put on your favorite metallic eye shadow (mine is rose gold), make sure that you applied an even amount of primer to your lids.
Next, apply a neutral eye shadow shade. Putting this on before you blend in your metallic eye shadow will lock it in. No more runny makeup at the end of the night!
If you chose silver eye shadow, grey will go perfectly, especially if you’re going to blend in light blue eyeshadow later!
If you chose rose gold or gold eye shadow, brown will blend in seamlessly.
Step 4: Level up your glam makeup look. Go for a smoky eye effect by blending in darker or complimentary matte shades.
This will make your eyes pop even more. If you’re rocking rose gold makeup, you will grab the attention of every single person in that room by blending in mauve shades. A chocolate brown shade would give off a sexy contrast to gold or even bronze.
Step 5: Go big or go home with mascara.
