It’s been x amount of days since the royal wedding, and I’m still not over Meghan Markle’s iconic makeup look. I know I’m not the only one living under the Meghan Markle Effect. Every single aspect of the Duchess of Sussex’s subtle, elegant look was on point. I spent days stalking the Kensington Palace instagram feed for multiple shots of her gorgeous beauty look. I made it my life mission to figure out what makeup she wore to her wedding.

Ladies, it does not come cheap.

Her makeup artist and friend, Daniel Martin, created her gorgeous look using high-end Dior products, which means replicating it exactly is out. Luckily, her minimalist look is ridiculously easy to copy using drugstore makeup products that are half the price but just as effective!

Here’s how you can steal her beauty routine and look and feel like a royal.

1. Wear a light foundation for an even, natural look.

Meghan Markle never shies away from highlighting her freckles. For her wedding, she used a light foundation and moisturizer for coverage without the heavy feeling. Use a light foundation to even out your skin tone.

2. Make your cheekbones stand out with a subtle contour.

To go for a more natural contour look, highlight your cheekbones with a blend of neutral shades that compliment your skin tone.

3. Accentuate your brow line.

One of the biggest themes of Meghan Markle’s makeup routine has always been to play up her natural features. Take a page from her beauty book and make your already amazing brows look twice as full. Gently fill in any light areas on your eyebrows with your favorite brow gel. Make sure to follow your natural brow line.

4. Go for a natural smoky eye using neutral colors.

The Duchess of Sussex’s eyeshadow may not have been overly glamorous or complicated, but it was definitely eye-catching. She made the perfect statement with her natural smoky eye, and you can too! Start with a lighter shade as the base before blending in darker colors.

5. Let your lashes make a bold statement.

This is the last step in your eye makeup routine, but the most important. First, apply one layer of black eyeliner to your lash line and create a slight wing at the outer corner. Next,  apply one to two coats of mascara and get ready for your dramatic entrance.

6. Keep your lip color simple.

You may remember how controversial Markle’s lip color choice was. Even though it was simple, her lipstick matched her personality perfectly. You can actually snag one of the lip pencils that she used (Honest Beauty’s Truly Kissable Lip Crayon in Sheer Chestnut Kiss) at a reasonable price. When choosing your lipstick, make sure that you find one that is close to your natural lip color.
